Students in 4th grade classes are learning about animals. They are discovering their husbandry, their needs and their adaptations. Through this process they are understanding the fragile balance of life and the importance of understanding. So what a way to grab their attention as Mrs. Batten, Mrs. D'Ercole and Mrs. Harrington show them that what an animal leaves behind, can also tell us what they eat, where they live and how far they roam. No need to panic, the students were not looking at real samples. These were rubber replicas designed by scientists to mimic the exact features of various scat left from different organisms.
